About the home

“The Palm House” is a delightful single-storey family home in Cowes just a short walk from the popular Red Rocks Beach in Cowes and the Red Rocks Golf Course, and a quick drive from the supermarkets, restaurants & cafés of Cowes. Some of the many features of this lovely home are detailed below:

Indoor Areas

The huge light-filled open plan Lounge (with two 3-seater sofas facing each other to play board games as a group) features stunning high ceilings, overlooks the front garden and flows through to the open plan central Kitchen/Dining Room. Down two steps is the rear Living Room (with smart TV, nobo heater and gas fireplace) that overlooks the swimming pool and the rear yard. The Living Room provides access to Bedroom 1, which has a WIR and ensuite (with shower & toilet) and Bedroom 2, which also has an ensuite (with shower & toilet). A hallway off the Lounge that also loops behind the Kitchen, provides access to Bedrooms 3, 4 and 5 (each with BIR), a Bathroom (with shower) and a separate Toilet. There is a fourth Bathroom with separate Toilet that doubles as a fully equipped Laundry (with washing machine & clothes dryer) which is accessed from behind the Kitchen and also serves as a pool washoff area as it leads directly out to the Pool area.

Outdoor Areas

The covered rear Alfresco (with gas BBQ, seating for 10 & a ceiling fan) overlooks the enclosed rear yard, featuring the centrepiece of this amazing home - the stunning solar heated Ionized pool (5m x 3.8m). Enjoy the serenity on sun lounges by the pool while the kids play with the basketball ring and Funky Monkey bars & swings (coming October 2025). The front covered deck (with seating for two) overlooks the delightful front garden There is a Single carpoirt and space for another vehicle (car and/or a boat) in the driveway, with additional street parking available.

The ionized pool uses a system to release copper and silver ions into the water, acting as natural disinfectants to prevent algae and bacteria. These ions are safe for swimmers and reduce the need for chemical sanitizers like chlorine, creating a gentler swimming experience, especially for those with sensitive skin.

The home has external security cameras - not facing any private areas.

Kitchen

The fully appointed kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, microwave, [XXX] coffee machine, toaster, kettle, etc. plus a double sink, fridge, dishwasher, electric oven and convection cook top.

Heating/Cooling Systems

There is a huge wall mounted reverse cycle air conditioner in the front Lounge Room, ceiling fans in Bedrooms 1, 2 and 4 plus in the rear Living Room and Alfresco, wall mounted electric nobo heaters in all 5 Bedrooms and the rear Living Room, plus two additional pedestal fans which can be used where required. There is also a gas fireplace in the rear Living Room.

Bedding Configuration

This home has 9 beds accommodating up to 12 guests:

Bedroom 1: One King bed
Bedroom 2: Two Long Single beds (which can be converted into a King bed)
Bedroom 3: One Queen bed
Bedroom 4: Two sets of Single bunks
Bedroom 5: One Double bed

Please note that if you want the Long Single beds to be converted into King beds prior to your arrival, we need at least one week's notice before checking in.
Long single mattress dimensions are approximately 91cm x 203cm and converted king bed dimensions are approximately 180cm x 203cm.

Linen

It is common in the region for some linen to be provided for bookings, and some linen to be available as an optional extra. By default, a booking at this home does not include optional linen (top & bottom sheets, bath towels and pillowcases). What is included are doonas (quilts) with covers, pillows without covers, tea towels, hand towels and bathmats. If you would like the optional linen included in your booking, please let us know, including which beds you would like it provided for. The additional cost would be a one-off charge of $30 per bed - and we prefer 7 days' notice prior to your arrival to get that arranged.

Peak Periods

Please note that during the peak summer period and other peak times, check in times are set as 3pm unless by prior arrangement. Please also note that if you avail of the optional linen hire over these times, it may involve linen being left out but beds not being made up.

Functions, Celebrations and Schoolies

Please note that the home is not suitable for celebrations, parties or large events. The home also does not take bookings over Schoolies.
