About the home
“Byfrons” is a beautiful 110-year-old heritage-listed home set on more than 210 acres of the owner’s cattle farm, yet only 2 minutes from Cowes. Offering a peaceful country escape, the property features spacious lawns, established gardens, and lovely views across the surrounding farmland towards the ocean. Enjoy the tranquillity of farm life while being surrounded by the beauty of the countryside. Some of the many features of this lovely home are detailed below:
Indoor Areas
The large open plan Kitchen/Dining/Living Room (with a 50" Smart TV, card & board games and open fireplace) provides a comfortable space for guests to relax and enjoy the peaceful surrounds. A central hallway leads to Bedrooms 1, 2, 3 & 4, with Bedrooms 2 & 3 featuring freestanding robes and good views of the sea in the distance, and Bedroom 1 featuring BIR and an Ensuite (with shower & toilet). The main Bathroom (with freestanding bath & shower) and separate Toilet are also located off the central hallway. The fully equipped Laundry (with washing machine & clothes dryer) is also located within the home.
Outdoor Areas
The large covered rear Balcony provides a lovely outdoor space (with gas BBQ and seating), overlooking the rear yard. Set amongst the owner’s cattle farm, the property offers a peaceful country escape with spacious lawns, established gardens, and beautiful views towards the ocean. The front driveway is lined by pine trees (collect some for the fireplace!). The rear yard is perfect for children and pets (please keep the pets outside). Guests may have the opportunity to see the farm cattle from inside the secure fencing of the home paddock. A single carport is available, with free parking outside the home for multiple vehicles.
Cattle Farm
Guests should note this is a functioning cattle farm. They have the exclusive use of the home and the immediate area surrounding the home, but should take care not to disturb the animals. They are requested to stay out of the worksheds, off farm equipment and excercise caution around the dam and when driving down the long gravel driveway. Gates should be left as they are found - close them if they were closed, and leave them open if they were open.
Kitchen
The fully equipped kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, microwave, Nespresso pod coffee machine, toaster, kettle, double sink, fridge, dishwasher, electric oven and gas cooktop.
Heating/Cooling Systems
The home has a split system in the Kitchen/Dining/Living area, along with electric blankets in Bedrooms 1, 2, 3 & 4, plus a mobile heater in Bedroom 4, which can be used where required. There is also an indoor open fireplace in the living room (some firewood provided to get guests started).
Bedding Configuration
This home has 6 beds, accommodating up to 9 guests:
Bedroom 1: One Queen bed
Bedroom 2: One Queen bed
Bedroom 3: Two Single beds
Bedroom 4: One Double bed and one Single bed
Linen
It is common in the region for some linen to be provided for bookings, and some linen to be available as an optional extra. By default, a booking at this home does not include optional linen (top & bottom sheets, bath towels and pillowcases). What is included are doonas (quilts) with covers, pillows without covers, tea towels, hand towels and bathmats. If you would like the optional linen included in your booking, please let us know, including which beds you would like it provided for. The additional cost would be a one-off charge of $30 per bed - and we prefer 7 days' notice prior to your arrival to get that arranged.
Peak Periods
Please note that during the peak summer period and other peak times, check in times are set as 3pm unless by prior arrangement. Please also note that if you avail of the optional linen hire over these times, it may involve linen being left out but beds not being made up.
Functions, Celebrations and Schoolies
Please note that the home is not suitable for celebrations, parties, or large events. The home also does not take bookings over Schoolies, irrespective of whether school-leavers are part of the official Schoolies Program. All bookings are subject to approval, pending Guest verification process. Local council restrictions are in place for this property, and compliance is mandatory.
