"Swan Bay Cottage” is a charming English cottage-style family home in Surf Beach, just a short stroll from the beach and only a short drive to the supermarkets, cafés, and restaurants of Cowes and Cape Woolamai. Some of the many features of this lovely home are detailed below:
Indoor Areas
On the ground floor level, the spacious open-plan Living/Dining/Kitchen area (with a 50" Smart TV, sound system, a selection of board/card games/books/magazines, and a selection of DVDs), features movable sofas and coffee tables. This allows direct access to outdoor Deck areas on both sides of the home, and creates a seamless indoor/outdoor coastal lifestyle beneath the home's impressive vaulted ceilings and exposed beam architecture. Bedroom 1 enjoys dual access to the main Bathroom via the adjoining walk-in robe, while the Bathroom (with a freestanding bath, shower & toilet) can also be accessed from the hallway. Bedroom 2 (with BIR) is also located on this level. A second communal Bathroom (with a shower & toilet) is conveniently positioned off the Laundry, making it ideal for rinsing off after a day at the beach. A fully equipped Laundry (with a washing machine and clothes dryer), featuring both internal and external access, completes this level.
Upstairs, a staircase leads to a spacious and versatile attic retreat that doubles as Bedroom 3 and a second Living area (with a 32" standard TV, a selection of card & board games, a children's play table, Lego, jigsaws & a beanbag) and flexible play space. It is perfect for families or additional guests. This light-filled upper level provides a cosy place to relax, unwind, or enjoy quality time together while taking in the elevated outlook across Swan Bay.
Outdoor Areas
Surrounded by inviting outdoor entertaining zones, the home is perfectly designed for relaxed coastal living. Featuring brand new decking areas at the front, rear, and upstairs, there is plenty of space to enjoy your morning coffee, alfresco dining, or simply soak up the fresh sea air. The rear yard is ideal for children, while the front verandah enjoys morning sun and beautiful views across Swan Bay. The rear Deck (with a gas BBQ, an outdoor table & umbrella) provides the perfect spot for entertaining family and friends. Upstairs, the private Balcony offers elevated views across Swan Bay and a peaceful place to unwind.
The property does not offer guest access to the garage. However, driveway parking is available for up to 4 vehicles (cars and/or a boat).
Kitchen
The fully appointed kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, a microwave, a ground coffee machine, a sandwich press, a rice cooker, a casserole maker, and a food processor, plus a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric oven, and stove. A pantry and ample cupboard space provide plenty of storage for longer stays.
Heating/Cooling Systems
There is a wall-mounted reverse-cycle air conditioner in the downstairs Kitchen/Dining/Living area, ceiling fans in the downstairs Living Room and the upstairs 2nd Living Room/Bedroom 3, pedestal fans in Bedrooms 1 and 2 and mobile heaters in all bedrooms.
Bedding Configuration
This home has 5 beds, accommodating up to 8 guests:
Bedroom 1 (Downstairs): One Queen bed
Bedroom 2 (Downstairs): One Queen bed
Bedroom 3 (Upstairs): Two Single beds and one Double Sofa bed
Linen
It is common in the region for some linen to be provided for bookings, and some linen to be available as an optional extra. By default, a booking at this home does not include optional linen (top & bottom sheets, bath towels and pillowcases). What is included are doonas (quilts) with covers, pillows without covers, tea towels, hand towels and bathmats. If you would like the optional linen included in your booking, please let us know, including which beds you would like it provided for. The additional cost would be a one-off charge of $30 per bed - and we prefer 7 days' notice prior to your arrival to get that arranged.
Peak Periods
Please note that during the peak summer period and other peak times, check in times are set as 3pm unless by prior arrangement. Please also note that if you avail of the optional linen hire over these times, it may involve linen being left out but beds not being made up.
Functions, Celebrations and Schoolies
Please note that the home is not suitable for celebrations, parties, or large events. The home also does not take bookings over Schoolies, irrespective of whether school-leavers are part of the official Schoolies Program. All bookings are subject to approval, pending Guest verification process. Local council restrictions are in place for this property, and compliance is mandatory.
